Founded in 1931 by a small group of medical students at Northwest Medical School in Chicago, the organization's original vision was to help support medical students in their attempt to integrate their faith into their medical practice. But following World War II, the focus of the CMDA expanded as physicians returned from overseas having seen the world and having witnessed the tremendous needs—many of them turning to the mission field as career medical missionaries...

Preparing Pharmacists for Their Expanding Roles
Being a pharmacist today is a very different proposition than it was two decades ago. Sometimes the expectations seem to shift on a monthly ... if not daily ... basis. Transparency: It's Clear Pharmacists, PBM Associations Caught in Contentious Debate
On the face of it, both the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) "strongly support" the principle of transparency within the pharmaceutical industry. Scratch the surface, however, and the two associations have very different ideas about what the concept of transparency means and how it should be enacted. Both claim their viewpoint is best for the bottom line.

"Recession Depression" a Growing Mental Health Concern
Economic Woes Take a Toll
You've heard the joke: It's a recession if you lose your job; it's a depression if I lose mine. Whatever you want to call the nation's economic downturn, it's downright depressing, say mental health professionals, and a recent survey confirms that the economy is taking its toll on Americans' mental health.

The Bottom Line: Credit Card Hangover
My neighbor decided to bring his friends home and continue the party last Friday night. They cranked up the stereo at 3:00 a.m. and didn't stop partying until I was able to get the police to knock on their door at 5:30 a.m. Needless to say, my night's sleep was destroyed. I had to go and teach a class at UT from 9:00 to 3:00, so you can imagine how I felt and how effective I may have been. My neighbor probably slept until noon and prepared to repeat the party the following day–which he did! I suffered the hangover, without the benefits of enjoying the party.

This translates into as many as 8 million adults who are affected.
